The Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission has regional trunk sewers throughout the region. While we have taken some steps to reduce odour emissions in certain areas, we understand that residents may from time-to-time smell sewage odours.
The Commission has an odour complaint response procedure to help us track down the sources of odours. We need the public’s help to pin-point the location and times of any emissions to better understand where and when the odours are emitted. This in turn will help us solve odour issues. Please report any odour issues to our Operations group who are available 24/7 and can be reached at (780) 416-9967.
An operator will visit the site, take readings with specialized equipment and record the results. If a simple solution is possible, we will do whatever is necessary to eliminate the source of the odour. In some cases, a more complex, engineering solution may be required.
Anyone who calls with an odour complaint will receive a follow-up call to describe what we found and what, if any, action will be taken.
We thank you for any assistance you can provide.
